Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya noted that this year’s “Thai Connect” program differs from previous “Meet Thailand” events in terms of its message and strategic orientation. While “Meet Thailand” primarily served to promote and provide initial introductions to Thai culture and the country itself, “Thai Connect” places a greater emphasis on deeper and more substantive connections. It reflects a new stage of development in bilateral relations following the official upgrade of the Vietnam-Thailand relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on May 16, 2025.
According to Ambassador Urawadee, the new name “Thai Connect” aligns well with the “Three connections” strategy currently being promoted by both countries, which includes: connecting supply chains, connecting businesses and localities of both countries, and connecting strategies for sustainable growth, green growth, and the digital economy. The Ambassador expressed hope that the event would help promote economic cooperation, strengthen business ties between the two countries, and contribute to achieving the goal of raising bilateral trade turnover to USD 25 billion in the coming time.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia stated that Hung Yen currently hosts more than 25,000 active enterprises, 18 industrial parks, and one economic zone covering a total area of over 30,000 hectares, which is ready to welcome foreign investors. However, the scale of Thai investment in the province remains modest, indicating substantial untapped potential for cooperation between the two sides. He affirmed that Hung Yen Province will continue to support and create a favorable environment for Thai businesses to confidently expand their investments and develop sustainably in the locality.
Director General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Hong Van praised Hung Yen for its proactive approach and spirit of integration. She noted that the province holds strong potential for cooperation in areas such as green economy, digital economy, logistics, tourism, processing industries, and high technology. The event presents an opportunity for both countries to share solutions and initiatives to resolve cooperation bottlenecks, transforming challenges into momentum for sustainable development. She emphasized that the Vietnamese Government will continue to foster a transparent and open investment environment, accelerate administrative reforms, and accompany Thai businesses in setting up long-term and effective operations in Vietnam.

Peethaphon Rattanachinda, Director of the Sales Department under the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) of Thailand, shared that this is GPO’s first time participating in a trade promotion event in Vietnam. The GPO is a pharmaceutical manufacturing agency under the Thai government, currently supplying about 60% of the domestic pharmaceutical demand and exporting to neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia.
Regarding the Vietnamese market, he noted that Vietnam’s young population and rising healthcare needs create favorable conditions for expanding cooperation. He expressed hope that through the “Thai Connect” event, GPO will gain more recognition in Hung Yen and other localities, thereby opening up specific opportunities for collaboration in the near future.
