UK condemns Iranian oil tanker for selling oil to Syria

On Tuesday (September 10), the UK blamed the Iran’s oil tanker Adrian Darya 1 for selling its crude oil to Syria, violating the commitments that not to carrying oil to this country before being released by Gibraltar’s authority.

The UK on Tuesday (September 10) condemned the Iranian oil tanker Adrian Darya 1, previously known as Grace 1 for selling its crude oil to Assad’s regime which breached the guarantee of Iran to Gibraltar authority not bring oil to Syria before getting permit to leave Gibraltar on August 15.

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab criticized “Iran has shown complete disregard for its own assurances over Adrian Darya 1” and said “This sale of oil to (Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s) brutal regime is part of a pattern of behavior by the Government of Iran designed to disrupt regional security”.

In addition, the US Department also had a comment on this issue “As we have warned all along, the Iranian regime has once again reneged on its assurances to the international community about its intentions to transport illicit oil to the murderous Assad regime”.

The US had gave satellite photo of the Adrian Darya 1 oil tanker in Syria on September 7, four days after this tanker shut down its Automatic Identification System when being detected in the coast between Lebanon and Syria.

The recent accusation of the UK was its unexpected move after Iran announced to release the British – flagged oil tanker on September 8, however, Iran has not let this ship go. Iran had freed 7 of 23 crew members of this tanker on September 4.

The UK’s new action may affect the release’s process of its tanker and rise tension between two countries.
