During his reception for Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, the UN Secretary-General congratulated Viet Nam on winning a seat on the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.

He informed the diplomat that he would pay an official visit to Viet Nam later this year to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam's accession to the UN at the invitation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

According to Guterres, the visit aims to send a strong message about the UN's importance of the Viet Nam-UN partnership over the past 45 years.
