During the meeting, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet expressed deep appreciation for UN Women's support to Vietnam in developing laws, policies, and numerous projects aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls over the years, particularly in creating and implementing the National Action Program on Women, Peace, and Security (PNHBAN).

Deputy Minister Viet emphasized that promoting gender equality and women's advancement is a top priority in Vietnam's policies, strategies, and socio-economic development plans. He also hoped that UN Women would continue to assist Vietnamese authorities in reviewing 15 years of the Gender Equality Law's implementation.

As the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action approaches, Vietnam is committed to making more significant contributions to the gender equality and women's advancement agenda at regional and global levels, especially as a member of the UN Women Executive Council for the 2025-2027 term.

Christine Arab praised Vietnam's achievements in gender equality and women's empowerment, especially the recent adoption of the first PNHBAN National Council. She expressed confidence that Vietnam would effectively represent the Asia-Pacific region and contribute significantly as a member of the UN Women Executive Council next year.

To strengthen Vietnam-United Nations cooperation, she affirmed that UN Women would continue to collaborate closely with Vietnamese agencies on the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security.

During their discussion, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet and Christine Arab identified priorities for UN Women and the United Nations, including recognizing and supporting women in the care economy, responding to natural disasters and climate change, digital transformation, child nutrition, and school hygiene.
