The launch ceremony was held alongside the digital art programme “Tinh hoa dao hoc” (Essence of Vietnamese scholarly tradition). The initiative promotes digital transformation in the cultural sector, helping improve public access to, promotion of and effective use of Viet Nam’s cultural resources.
The Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy is one of Hanoi’s prominent examples of applying technology to develop creative cultural products. Its “Tinh hoa dao hoc” night tour, together with experiential activities featuring traditional craft villages and local cuisine, has helped enhance the appeal of the heritage site.
The digital art programme “Tinh hoa dao hoc” at the event continued to showcase the combination of performance technology and digital cultural data. The choice of the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy as the venue for the CMAP launch, in the year marking the 950th anniversary of the establishment of the Imperial Academy (1076-2026), carries significance in connecting Viet Nam’s tradition of valuing education with modern approaches to heritage engagement.

A new channel for exploring Vietnamese culture
Available at cmap.vn, the Viet Nam Cultural Digital Map provides information on cultural and artistic events, traditional festivals, mass sports competitions and heritage tourism itineraries across the country.
Through the platform, users can search for and locate cultural activities by geographical location, explore art programmes and experiential tours, and find service promotions to plan their visits independently.
For international visitors, CMAP offers an additional digital channel for finding information about destinations, festivals and cultural experiences in Viet Nam. By organising data according to location and time, the platform also enables visitors to explore the distinctive cultural values of different regions and choose itineraries that suit their interests and travel needs.
Beyond serving the public, the platform also supports management agencies in monitoring the geographical distribution of events, assessing tourism capacity, preserving heritage and coordinating development resources. For localities, cultural institutions and businesses, it provides a channel to introduce activities, promote products and seek investment opportunities in the cultural industries.
CMAP is expected to continue expanding its data connections to include tangible and intangible cultural heritage, museums, libraries, theatres, creative spaces, sports facilities and key tourist destinations. The platform also aims to establish interoperability with the VNeID electronic identification system and other related digital platforms.

Bringing the beauty of Viet Nam closer to international audiences
Speaking at the event, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh expressed her hope that every piece of information on the Viet Nam Cultural Digital Map would help bring the public closer to the country’s heritage sites, theatres, artisans and cultural stories.
According to the Minister, these connections will not only expand opportunities to develop cultural industry and tourism products and create livelihoods for communities, but also help showcase the beauty of Viet Nam to international friends.
To ensure the platform operates effectively, the Minister called on local authorities and cultural institutions to proactively update information accurately, fully and promptly, and clearly define their responsibilities for maintaining the data. Artists, artisans, creators and businesses were encouraged to contribute high-quality products and tell the stories of Vietnamese culture with knowledge, understanding and a creative spirit.
The Minister also called on the public, particularly young people, to actively use the platform, participate in cultural activities and share their experiences, becoming ambassadors who spread their love for Vietnamese culture.
As of 12 noon on November 1, 2026, CMAP had listed 391 events across all 34 provinces and centrally governed cities nationwide. Cultural institutions under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had also announced 33 events in response to Viet Nam Culture Day (November 24), held in conjunction with the 2026 Great National Unity Festival.
The launch of CMAP contributes to the implementation of digital transformation and cultural development objectives set out in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo. At the same time, the platform creates further opportunities to connect traditional cultural values with modern technology, expanding the potential to promote the image of Viet Nam, its land and people, to international audiences.
