He assessed that Vietnam-Cuba relations are developing well and moving toward new heights. The establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Department at the University of Havana and at the University of the Communist Party of Cuba, he said, is a vivid testament to the special friendship, while also reflecting Cuba’s responsibility in spreading Ho Chi Minh’s ideology among its people, particularly the younger generation. He emphasized that the year 2025, declared as the “Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Year,” will provide new momentum for the two sides to elevate people-to-people cooperation to a higher level.
Highlighting concrete results, the ICAP leader noted that a group of Cuban children, winners of the contest “Cuba and Vietnam: A Friendship Without Borders,” recently visited Da Nang and paid tribute at the memorial house of Hero Nguyen Van Troi, after whom their school in Cuba is named. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the campaign to support the Cuban people, initiated by the Viet Nam Red Cross Society in collaboration with VUFO, the Viet Nam – Cuba Friendship Association, and many relevant agencies and organizations. He stressed that this was an “unprecedented initiative” that clearly demonstrated the sincere solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
Regarding future cooperation, ICAP proposed working with VUFO to strengthen theoretical and practical exchanges, organize joint seminars and working groups, and leverage networks from central to local levels to identify the most practical approaches to advancing peace, solidarity, and friendship. ICAP also invited the VUFO President to visit Cuba, and informed that the celebration of the 65th anniversary of ICAP is expected to take place at the end of 2025, with the hope of participation from VUFO and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association. Mr. Víctor Fidel Gaute López also mentioned activities in commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of leader Fidel Castro in 2026, while highly appreciating the role of the network of former Vietnamese students who studied in Cuba.

He stressed the importance of maintaining regular and timely information exchanges among VUFO, ICAP, and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam.
Vice President of ICAP expressed strong agreement with the proposals of the VUFO President, affirming that the two sides will maintain close, natural, and sincere communication channels to help promote practical cooperation programs in the coming period.
