Singapore: 81 lotus flowers commemorate President Ho Chi Minh

On September 2, all officials and staff of the Embassy, together with representatives of Vietnamese agencies in Singapore, gathered to offer flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Asian Civilisations Museum.

In a solemn atmosphere, officials and staff respectfully offered flowers and observed a minute of silence in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. They also pledged to continue studying and following his thought, morality and style, contributing to national construction and development.

Earlier, on August 29, under the coordination of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore, a large number of Vietnamese living, working and studying in the country offered 81 lotus flowers to President Ho Chi Minh, symbolizing the 81 Independence Days celebrated by the nation.

The activity not only expressed gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh but also provided an opportunity to strengthen community bonds, inspire patriotism, and remind every Vietnamese person that, wherever they live, they remain connected to their homeland and aware of their responsibility to contribute to the country.

On August 24, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Singapore also held a ceremony to celebrate the 81st National Day. Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, attended the event during his official visit to Singapore and co-chaired the first Viet Nam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue.

Perth shines with the Vietnamese national flag for the first time

In Australia, the celebration of Viet Nam’s 81st National Day, organized by the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Perth, left a special impression as the Vietnamese national flag was illuminated for the first time on both sides of Perth Town Hall, an iconic landmark in the heart of the city.

The ceremony was hosted by Consul General Pham Hai Anh and attended by nearly 200 guests, including Western Australia Premier Roger Cook, representatives of the government, the consular corps, businesses, universities and community organizations.

In a solemn atmosphere, the national anthems of Viet Nam and Australia were played, opening the commemorative program.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Pham Hai Anh recalled the historical significance of September 2, 1945, affirming that, 81 years on, Viet Nam remains steadfast on its path of peaceful, independent and self-reliant development, while pursuing deep integration with the world.

He also highlighted strong developments in Viet Nam-Australia relations, particularly in sustainable agriculture, education, the digital economy, science and technology, innovation, and energy transition.

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook said relations between Viet Nam and Western Australia are developing positively, with considerable potential for cooperation in trade, investment, resource development, energy transition, sustainable agriculture, education, tourism and cultural exchange.

He also recognized the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Western Australia to the state’s economy, education, science, agriculture and cultural diversity.

The highlight of the event was the moment the Vietnamese national flag illuminated Perth Town Hall. The image of the red flag with a yellow star shining in the heart of the city created a special impression on the Vietnamese community in Western Australia, while also helping introduce the image of Viet Nam to local residents and international friends.

Beijing: Strengthening community bonds and fostering Viet Nam-China friendship

On the evening of September 2, the Embassy of Viet Nam in China held a solemn ceremony in Beijing to celebrate the 81st National Day, with the participation of numerous representatives from government agencies, organizations, businesses, the Vietnamese community, Vietnamese students, Chinese officials, friendship figures and members of the diplomatic corps in China.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh emphasized that, after more than eight decades of national construction and defense, particularly the 40 years of Doi Moi, Viet Nam has achieved comprehensive accomplishments and become a dynamic, deeply integrated economy, with its international standing and reputation continuing to grow.

Regarding Viet Nam-China relations, the Ambassador affirmed that Viet Nam has always regarded consolidating and developing its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China as an objective necessity, a strategic choice and a top priority in its foreign policy.

At a meeting held before the celebration, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei, on behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese State and people, extended congratulations on Viet Nam’s National Day and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to be strengthened and developed.

Beyond its diplomatic significance, the ceremony also provided an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in China to share their pride in their homeland.

Vu Hoang Thanh Loan, a Vietnamese living in Beijing, said every Vietnamese person living abroad can become a “cultural ambassador,” helping introduce the image of Viet Nam and its people while connecting economic and technological resources to serve the country’s development.

To Hong Hoai, a Vietnamese who has lived in Beijing for nearly 30 years, said September 2 and other major national holidays always hold special significance for those living far from home. The achievements Viet Nam has made in recent years have also become a source of encouragement and pride for Vietnamese communities overseas.

From the lotus flowers offered to President Ho Chi Minh in Singapore and community gatherings in Beijing to the Vietnamese national flag shining brightly in the heart of Perth, National Day celebrations overseas have created distinctive impressions while sharing a common focus: affection for the homeland, pride in the country, and the increasingly widespread presence of Viet Nam’s image within the international community.

National Day Celebrations Abroad: Remembering History, Strengthening Community and Friendship To mark the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, numerous activities were held in Cuba, France, Macao (China), Tanzania and Mozambique, recalling the significance of national independence, commemorating President Ho Chi Minh, and strengthening bonds among the Vietnamese community and with local friends.

Vietnam Welcomes 6.5 Million Tourists During National Day Holiday According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, during the five-day National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, the country’s tourism sector is estimated to have welcomed and served approximately 6.5 million tourist arrivals, an increase of 18.1% compared with the same period in 2025.
