Vietnam Affirms Active Role in Francophonie Community

At a meeting following the credential presentation ceremony, Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh on her new assignment and praised Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements and international integration in recent years. She highly appreciated Vietnam’s role, standing, and positive contributions to the Francophonie community, as well as the consistent participation of Vietnamese leaders in Francophonie Summits.

Secretary-General Mushikiwabo expressed appreciation for General Secretary To Lam leading the high-level Vietnamese delegation to the 19th Francophonie Summit in France in 2024. She also voiced hope that Vietnam will continue to attend the 20th Francophonie Summit, scheduled to take place in Cambodia in November 2026.
Assessing that the international context and multilateralism are facing numerous challenges, the Francophonie Secretary-General affirmed that the OIF will continue strengthening cooperation and solidarity with Vietnam and member states to better serve the interests of their peoples. She emphasized that the Francophonie community will expand cooperation with Vietnam across multiple fields, including French language education and economic cooperation, and expressed her expectation for a visit to Vietnam in early March.
For her part, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, who also serves as Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), thanked Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo for her goodwill toward Vietnam and conveyed greetings from Vietnam’s leaders to the head of the OIF.
The ambassador also shared the outcomes and successes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam remains steadfast in its multilateral foreign policy and its policy of deep international integration in the new period. She emphasized that Vietnam attaches importance to cooperation with the Francophonie community, is an active and responsible member, and stands ready to contribute to the organization’s common goals.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh affirmed her commitment to closely coordinating with the OIF Secretariat and member states to enhance cooperation between Vietnam and the Francophonie community, promote Vietnam’s effective participation in Francophonie forums, and contribute to strengthening the role of the Francophonie community in the Asia-Pacific region.
Welcoming the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Francophonie Secretary-General, the ambassador affirmed that relevant Vietnamese agencies are actively preparing to ensure the success of the visit, thereby further consolidating cooperation between Vietnam and the Francophonie community and contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development.
