According to VNA, Vietnam officially inaugurated the office of its Embassy in Timor-Leste on July 15 in the capital city of Dili, reaffirming Vietnam's long-term commitment to deepening cooperation with one of Southeast Asia's youngest nations.
The inauguration ceremony took place just over three months after the embassy officially began operations, completing an important phase in the development of Vietnam's permanent diplomatic presence in Timor-Leste.
The new office will enable the embassy to fully carry out its political, economic, consular, citizen protection and community affairs, while serving as a stronger bridge connecting government agencies, localities and businesses of both countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chargé d'Affaires Pham Binh Dam said the new office not only meets the embassy's operational requirements but also demonstrates Vietnam's long-term commitment to further strengthening friendship and cooperation with Timor-Leste.

The embassy, he added, will continue promoting bilateral cooperation while accompanying Timor-Leste on its path toward ASEAN membership.
On behalf of the Timor-Leste Government, Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay congratulated Vietnam on the opening of the embassy headquarters and reaffirmed his country's high regard for its friendship with Vietnam. He also expressed confidence that the embassy would continue contributing to the expansion of bilateral cooperation across areas of shared interest.
After the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Embassy chaired the regular meeting of ASEAN Heads of Mission in Dili. Holding the first event at the new embassy premises as an ASEAN meeting reflects the embassy's increasingly proactive role in multilateral activities in Timor-Leste and marks the beginning of the Vietnamese mission's full-fledged operations in the country.
