Vietnam, India Expands People-to-People Exchange
Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Hoang Cong Thuy (R) and Indian Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Subhash Gupta.

Thuy affirmed that the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and India has been cultivated and strengthened by their leaders and people in all spheres, creating a firm foundation to enhance the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

The two sides have maintained high-ranking delegation exchanges and contacts, helping intensify mutual trust and understanding, he said, adding that the two-way trade has also grown significantly.

Thuy suggested the Deputy Ambassador provide support for the Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue expanding its relations with similar organisations of India in the coming time, thereby promoting people-to-people exchanges and further tightening the friendship between people of the two countries.

For his part, Gupta affirmed that the Vietnam-India relationship has been thriving, and India always regards Vietnam as one of the most reliable and closest partners.

The Deputy Ambassador noted his hope to receive more support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front to promote cultural exchanges, especially those relating to Buddhism and yoga in Vietnamese cities and provinces, as well as training for Vietnamese students and officials.

Last month, the Indian Embassy in Vietnam held ‘India Day- a Festival of Unity in Diversity’ in Hanoi, aiming to promote the cultural features of India to Vietnamese people.

The art programme featured different classical, folk and popular dance forms of India, and yoga demonstrations by experienced practitioners. Ladies and children from the Indian diaspora and Vietnamese students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also performed music and dance performances, representing art and culture from India.

At the festival, Indian garments, art and craft, henna, mehndi and many other products were displayed, attracting a large number of both Indian and Vietnamese people. In addition, many photos highlighting the exchanges of high-level delegations and cultural activities between the two countries were also showcased.

According to President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, the imprints and cultural values of India preserved in Vietnam, are an important bridge to tighten the understanding between the two peoples and the festival would contribute to deepening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India, personally created and cultivated by the two late leaders, Ho Chi Minh and Jawaharlal Nehru.
