Vietnam men's national football team leaves for Iran
(VNF) - On March 25th, the Vietnam national football team left for Iran for the last game against Iraq in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, said VFF.
The organizing board has decided to use the neutral ground for the Iraq national football team due to recent security concerns.
Head coach Nguyen Huu Thang finalized a roster of 23 members for the upcoming game. There is a little change in the list, midfielder Dinh Tien Thanh returns while striker Van Thang is absent due to injury. Earlier, Dinh Tien Thanh was sidelined on the March 24th game between Vietnam and Taiwan (China) by getting two yellow cards.
Thailand drew 2-2 with Iraq to advance to final round of World Cup qualifying, thus opening the windows for Nguyen Huu Thang and his students to retain hope of going through to the next round.
Both Vietnam and Iraq have a game in hands. The winner will finish second in Group F. Vietnam now places third with seven points behind Thailand with 14 points and Iraq with nine points./.
