Vietnam Takes Part in 20th Session of UNIDO General Conference
A Vietnamese delegation led by Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien has recently attended the 20th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and its sidelines events in the Austrian capital, Vienna, VNA reported.
The 20th session of the General Conference of UNIDO themed “Fair Globalization: Innovative Solutions for the Industry of Tomorrow," aims to forge new pathways to sustainability, digital inclusivity, and economic resilience, with an emphasis on how inclusive and sustainable industrial development can support sustainable supply chains, limit climate breakdown and contribute to ending hunger worldwide.

UNIDO has been present in Vietnam since 1978 and provided technical support to the Government in accordance with high international standards, focusing on enhancing the country’s competitiveness and sustainable industrial development.
The organization is running more than 70 projects with total funding of USD 11.75 million in the Southeast Asian nation, covering climate change response, support to small- and medium-sized enterprises to save energy so as to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the improvement of the productivity and competitiveness of Vietnam's industries.
UNIDO and Vietnam are working on a cooperation programme for 2023-2027, which is expected to serve as a basis for their cooperation activities, sharing UNIDO's successful experiences with Vietnam towards the goal of becoming a high-middle income country with a modern industry by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.

Saudi Arabia won the bid to host the 21st session of the General Conference of the UNIDO in Riyadh in November 2025.
More than 1,500 people are expected to participate in the next conference scheduled to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in 2025, including representatives of UNIDO member states, in addition to representatives of international organizations and the private sector.
