Vietnamese doctors saves Cambodian woman with Streptococcus suis infection
International General Nam Sai Gon (South Saigon) Hospital yesterday announced that a 35-year-old Cambodian woman who experienced Streptococcus suis infection has been saved.
The woman was hospitalized when she suffered acute kidney failure, pneumonia, swelling body and skin serious bleeding, the most commonly symptoms of meningitis.
Accordingly, doctors were quick to take clinical tests and diagnosed her to be infected with Streptococcus suis virus.
She was undergoing dialysis and took strong antibiotic medication, Head of intensive care unit Dr. Ho Thanh Lich said. Surgeons cut gangrenous skin to avoid infections in other neighboring areas.
After receiving ten-day intensive care treatment, the woman recovered well. Surgeons could perform operation to remove gangrenous skin in her thigh.
