The Algerian International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV 2026) took place from May 18-21 at the SAFEX Exhibition Center in Algiers, with the participation of approximately 450 businesses and organizations from 41 countries.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria, in collaboration with two major Vietnamese tourism companies, Saigontourist and Vietravel, hosted a booth showcasing Vietnamese tours, attracting considerable interest and attention from international visitors.
In addition to publications introducing tourism products from Saigontourist and Vietravel, the Vietnamese booth at the fair also featured large photographs of famous landmarks such as Hoan Kiem Lake, the Trang An Ecotourism Area, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hoi An Ancient Town, Ban Gioc Waterfall, and the terraced rice fields of Mu Cang Chai.
Embassy staff diligently guided visitors through the visa application process for Vietnam, while also providing other useful information to international guests. In addition, visitors to the Vietnamese booth could enjoy Vietnamese coffee and tea.
This year’s fair, themed “Algeria, Authentic Tourism and Sustainable Development,” reflects the Algerian government’s efforts to promote tourism as a new economic pillar alongside the energy sector.
According to the Algerian Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, SITEV 2026 featured the participation of numerous travel companies, hotel groups, airlines, financial institutions, and investment promotion agencies. Approximately 50 startups specializing in digital services and smart tourism also took part in the fair.

SITEV 2026 is Algeria’s largest tourism event of the year. In addition to promoting destinations, accommodation services, hotels, and emerging trends in the tourism industry, the fair features business networking forums, specialized seminars, and investment matchmaking programs between Algerian businesses and international partners.
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the area dedicated to Algerian handicrafts and traditional products, particularly those from the Sahara Desert, aimed at promoting cultural heritage and boosting domestic tourism.
Algerian officials expect the fair to help stimulate the 2026 summer tourism season, increase the number of international visitors, and enhance Algeria’s image as an emerging destination in North Africa and the Mediterranean region.
