According to the VNA correspondent in Paris, the French women's magazine Biba Magazine recently named Vietnam one of the most attractive destinations for French travelers while praising its rich and healthy cuisine.

In the article, Biba Magazine cited data from the travel platform Trip.com showing that Vietnam currently ranks third among the dream destinations of French travelers, behind Japan and Thailand. According to the magazine, besides its remarkable natural scenery, cuisine is a key factor contributing to Vietnam's appeal.

Rice rolls (banh cuon), filled with minced pork and wood ear mushrooms and served with fresh herbs, fried shallots, fish sauce, and Vietnamese pork sausage—especially cinnamon pork sausage—were highlighted as a signature Hanoi dish. The article noted that the overall flavor of banh cuon depends greatly on the quality of the accompanying fish sauce. (Photo: Pham Hau/VNA)

Topping the magazine's list of recommendations is Hanoi's famous egg coffee, featuring a rich, creamy egg foam layered over hot coffee. The magazine also recommended enjoying coffee along Hanoi's Train Street, where visitors can experience the unique atmosphere as trains pass just inches away.

Hanoi's bun cha was another standout favorite for the authors. Biba Magazine recalled that the dish gained worldwide recognition after former US President Barack Obama dined at Bun Cha Huong Lien restaurant in 2016. According to the article, visitors can still order the "Obama Combo," which includes bun cha, fried spring rolls, and local beer.

The magazine also recommended Hanoi's pho cuon, made with stir-fried beef, fresh herbs, and leafy vegetables wrapped in thin pho noodles and served with dipping fish sauce. The authors said they were so impressed by the dish that they even considered opening a restaurant specializing in pho cuon in Paris.

Banh cuon was also recognized as one of Hanoi's signature dishes. Its delicate steamed rice sheets, filled with minced pork and wood ear mushrooms and served with herbs and fish sauce, perfectly showcase the light, fresh, and refined characteristics of Vietnamese cuisine.

Leaving Hanoi, the culinary journey continues in Ninh Binh with grilled mountain goat served alongside crispy scorched rice. According to Biba Magazine, the rustic flavors of the dish become even more appealing when enjoyed amid the province's iconic limestone mountain landscape.

The magazine also recommended taking a cruise through Ha Long Bay, savoring fresh seafood, visiting Thien Canh Son Cave, and joining local residents for nighttime squid fishing.

Rounding out the list is bun bo Hue. Biba Magazine described the noodle soup as richer and spicier than pho. Learning to make Vietnamese spring rolls at a local family's home before sharing a meal of bun bo Hue also gave the authors a deeper appreciation of the warmth and hospitality reflected in Vietnam's culinary culture.

According to Biba Magazine, it is the country's regional diversity, fresh ingredients, and refined cooking techniques that have enabled Vietnam's cuisine to go far beyond familiar dishes such as pho and spring rolls, making it one of the most memorable highlights for international visitors.
