World’s oldest male panda celebrates 31st birthday

(VNF) - The 31st birthday celebration of An An, the world’s oldest male giant panda was held on August 1 in Ocean Park, Hong Kong, according to the China News.

An An is currently the world's oldest male giant panda living under human care, his age (31) is equivalent to 93 in human term.

A delicious veggie birthday cake made from carrot, purple sweet potato, bamboo tree leaves and fruits were crafted to wish An An "many happy returns of the day".

On the same day, a fashion show featuring panda-inspired costumes also took place at Hongkong Ocean Park.

As An An is already ‘a senior citiziten’ of the panda poplulation, he has been coping with several health issues, which are quite similar to what usually faces elder people, including high blood pressure, arthritis, cataract.

His caregiver usually adds medicines and nutrition supplements to his daily meal.

At the moment, An An’s health is at stable stage.

On the same day, the Hong Kong Ocean Park also held birthday celebration for Le Le and Ying Ying, a couple of panda which have been raised in the park since 2007./.
