The 25th International Mathematics Competition (VIMC 2025) took place in Da Nang City from August 16 to 18, following international IMC standards. This year’s competition attracted more than 500 contestants, along with 181 teachers and 100 international guests from over 30 countries and territories.

The competition was divided into two categories: Key Stage II (Grades 5–6) and Key Stage III (Grades 7–8). Each student took part in two compulsory rounds: the Individual Round and the Team Round. The exam papers were selected from proposals submitted by the academic committees of the participating countries.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee also handed over the IMC 2026 host flag to the Mongolian team.

Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Tran Anh Tuan, stated that this is the first time Da Nang has hosted the competition, with the aspiration of affirming the city as a reliable destination for intellectual and academic events of international stature. The contest not only attracted students from many countries but also created opportunities for cultural exchange, learning, and experience-sharing among diverse cultures around the world.

He emphasized that this was a valuable opportunity for students to challenge themselves with difficult mathematical problems, while also sharing, learning, and broadening their horizons in mathematics and its applications in real life.

The International Mathematics Competition (IMC) is an annual event, hosted on a rotational basis by member countries, for outstanding mathematics students from countries and territories around the world. It is recognized as one of the most prestigious international mathematics contests for lower secondary students, while also serving as a valuable international platform that enables young mathematical talents to challenge themselves, enhance their mathematical skills, foster creativity, and engage in academic exchange and research development.
