500 Athletes Join Vietnamese Sports Festival in Japan

This is the first and biggest event hosted by the VAK since its inception in December 2021.
The sports festival, which took place under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka and the support of the Japanese side, featured football, table tennis, badminton and tug of war.
It brought together 500 athletes who are Vietnamese students, trainees, engineers and employees, and those from Japan, Indonesia, China and Thailand.

FC Kachitai from Kurume city won the football championship title and their players Le Hai Nam and Han Ngoc Thien were also honoured for their outstanding performance.
In badminton, duo Hoang Hai Nam and Tran Xuan Hung of the Betoyama team won the first prize.
Bui Da Bo from Fukuoka triumphed in table tennis.
The festival served as a healthy playground and offered an opportunity for young people to engage in exchanges.

Vietnamese continued to be the second biggest foreign community in Japan after China, despite a 3.4 percent drop in 2021, according to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (ISA).
The number of Vietnamese people in Japan reached 432,934, accounting for 15.7% of the total foreigners in the country.
The Republic of Korea came third with a community that made up 14.8% of total foreigners in Japan, followed by those from the Philippines and Brazil with 10.5% and 7.4%, respectively.
As of the end of 2021, Japan had hosted over 2.76 million foreigners, down 4.4% from the same period last year, mostly because of tighter border management due to Covid-19 pandemic./.
