The representative of Dien Bien Province leaders at the meeting included Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, President of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do and the Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice President of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Duc Toan.

The Dien Bien Province leaders informed the VUFO delegation that the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in Dien Bien, established in 2008, currently has 151 members.

During its operation, the Association regularly contacted and followed directions and policies from the province and the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in a timely manner.

The Dien Bien Province leaders also proposed that VUFO create favorable conditions for Dien Bien to join activities of VUFO and the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM), to work with foreign non-government organizations (NGOs) that are operating in Vietnam and get information on new NGOs for future cooperation. They proposed that VUFO support Dien Bien province to connect with NGOs with large and long-term budgets, operating in the fields that the province is prioritizing to survey and implement projects in the province.

The President of VUFO Nguyen Phuong Nga acknowledged the results that Dien Bien province has achieved in people-to-people diplomacy and the difficulties that the province faced in recent years.

She hopes the province will continue to fulfill the task of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation. VUFO will take careful consideration of the province's proposals and recommendations. She suggested that a Dien Bien Union of Friendship Organizations should be established as soon as possible.
