ActionAid Vietnam supports flood-hit communes of Ninh Binh

(VNF) - Three communes of Ninh Binh province’s Nho Quan district which were affected by the historic flood in early October have been benefited from aid package of Christian Blind Mission (CBM), Aid for social protection program foundation Vietnam (AFV) and ActionAid Vietnam (AAV).

The historic flood in early October is considered as the worst flood in northern region of Vietnam. In Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province, many roads are inundated, water is flooded into the people's houses so that all communes in the district are inundated locally or large area, causing damage to furniture, obstructing living production of people, especially people with disabilities. Many schools are damaged, affecting the environment for students to study.

In order to to help the people quickly restore their daily life in Thach Binh, Ky Phu and Cuc Phuong communes, Nho Quan district of Ninh Binh province, on November 9^th-10^th, with the support from CBM and AFV, AAV has supported learning materials for 310 disadvantaged students in three communes, 16 wheelchairs and 15 crutches for people with disabilities in Ky Phu and Thach Binh communes.

The activities under the project "Promoting inclusive development for people with disabilities through the initiative of social organisations" by CBM, AFV and AAV collaborated to improve the capacity of communities and local authorities, empowering people living with disabilities, transforming their lives and breaking down the barriers in their homes and communities that stop them from reaching their full potential. The project is being implemented from January to December 2017 in Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province./.
