All-People Border Defence Day: Border Residents Engage in Cultural, Artistic Exchanges

The Vietnam Border Guard High Command and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee have organised an exchange programme between border residents in La Dee commune, Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province, on the occasion of All-People Border Defence Day (March 3).
The programme included such activities as campfire, folk games, cultural and artistic exchanges between ethnic minorities in border areas and border guard officers and soldiers, teachers and students.

It also introduced special traditional dishes and featured a zero-price market fair that offered household utensils to border residents.
The Vinh Duc General Hospital organised health examination and treatment, and provided medicines for 200 ethnic minority people and students in border communes of the mountainous district of Nam Giang.
Youth union members and border guards also offered haircuts to students and local residents.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Women's Union in Quang Nam province presented two houses, each worth VND100 million ($4,210), to border residents, and volunteer groups donated 150 gifts, two wells and water filters to disadvantaged ethnic minorities in the area./.
