Art Exchange Held in Celebration of Vietnam-Italy Ties

The cinema-related exchange becomes a bridge contributing to strengthening Vietnam - Italy bilateral relations.

A wide range of activities is held to mark the anniversaries, including the Vietnamese Film Day at the Asian Film Festival, a fashion show in Bologna/Napoli, a workshop on Vietnam’s situation and prospects in Milan, and a photo exhibition featuring the two nations’ solidarity and relations.

A Vietnam Day was held in Rome on April 4 within the framework of the 20th Asian Film Festival in celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic relations, VNA reported.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung said that the event was part of the activities organized within the framework of Vietnam - Italy Year 2023.

Cinema-related exchange in particular and cultural exchange, in general, will contribute to expanding and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, he added.

Four Vietnamese films were screened at the festival, including “Hoa Nhai" (Jasmine) by director Dang Nhat Minh, “Dem toi Ruc ro" (The Brilliant Darkness) by Aaron Toronto, “Tro tan ruc ro” (Bright Ashes) by Bui Thac Chuyen and "Memento Mori: Dat" (Memento: Water) by Marcus Manh Cuong Vu. These are outstanding works that have represented Vietnamese movies to take part in other major international film festivals.

Vietnam Day has brought to the Italian public and international friends a look at the contemporary cinema of Vietnam. And the audience can see that, although still young, the Vietnamese cinema industry has recently made a new change, clearly reflecting the development and international integration of the country.

Many guests shared their interest in the content, processing art and especially the humanistic messages that this year's works bring. They expressed their excitement for the culture, life and scenery of Vietnam after watching the films.

They were also impressed by a photo collection about the country and its people, along with traditional Vietnamese dishes such as nem (spring rolls) and banh ran (deep-fried sticky rice dessert).

According to Antonio Terminini, director of the 20th Asian Film Festival, the theme of films revolves around human relationships in the family and in society as well as social issues related to teenagers and women.

Recently, delegates looked into Vietnam’s current situation and prospects at a workshop held by the Italian Communist Party (ICP) and the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association (IVFA) in the Italian city of Milan.

The event saw the attendance of ICP General Secretary Mauro Alboresi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung, President of the IVFA in the Veneto region Renato Darsiè, many ICP members, and Italian friends.

On April 3, in Milano, Ambassador Hung met and worked with Massimo Giudici, Managing Director at Capital adv, the brand management company of MasterChef Italy.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged a number of ideas and measures to promote the presence of Vietnamese culinary culture in Italy and the role of the culinary cultural bridge contributing to strengthening bilateral relations in the near future.

Earlier, Ambassador Duong Hai Hung received and congratulated Dinh Thi Hue, who had excellently passed many rounds and won the MasterChef Italia 2023 runner-up.
