Bac Lieu Builds 120 Houses for Disadvantaged Families

The Union of Friendship Organizations of Bac Lieu province and the Liaison Committee of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen in Ho Chi Minh City held a signing ceremony of an agreement to coordinate the implementation of the third "Homeland and hearts" program.

The agreement defines the roles and responsibilities of each party in coordinating the implementation of the program to mobilize support for the construction of rural bridges and houses for the poor in the province. At the same time, it strengthens coordination between the Liaison Committee of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen in HCM City and the Bac Lieu Union of Friendship Organizations in mobilizing co-funding or counterpart funds for programs and projects to build rural bridges and houses for the poor in the province.

According to the agreement, from 2024 to 2026, the two sides will mobilize support to build 120 houses for families in difficult circumstances in the province (each house worth VND 50 million or USD 1.986). Of which, the Bac Lieu Friendship Union mobilized VND 25 million (USD 991); the Literature and Arts Club under the Liaison Committee of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen in HCM City mobilized the rest. This program will serve as a basis for application in the following years.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ngo Vu Thang, vice chairman of the Bac Lieu People's Committee acknowledged the contributions and sharing of the Liaison Committee, and benefactors for Bac Lieu in the past time. Thanks to this contribution, many poor and vulnerable families, and single elderly people have had stable lives.

Thang suggested that the Bac Lieu Friendship and the Liaison Committee of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen in HCM City enhance the role and responsibility of each party in coordinating the implementation of the program, mobilizing funding or counterpart funds for the program. At the same time, monitor and supervise the implementation so that the contents are highly effective, contributing to sustainable social security for the homeland of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau.

Also at the signing ceremony, the Liaison Committee of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen in HCM City supported Bac Lieu Province with VND 3 billion (USD 119.213) to build houses for poor households and families with housing difficulties.
