Tam Coc, the renowned scenic spot in Ninh Binh has captivated both domestic and foreign tourists for its majestic karst mountain ranges, shimmering caves, and especially stunning rice fields.

Situated at the edge of the Red River Delta, just seven kilometers from Ninh Binh Town, the capital of Ninh Binh Province, Tam Coc is a singular place which is still maintained long-standing rice cultivation. The locals here only grow one crop each year, normally in May; hence, this is the “must-visit” time if you do not want to miss the opportunity to admire stretches of bright yellow paddy fields.

The rice fields are cultivated right on Ngo Dong River, blending with green grass to create an eye-catching and glorious painting. Sitting on the boat gliding through cliffs and caves, enjoying shiny yellow ripen paddle fields, immersing in the peaceful atmosphere of country life would be immiscible experiences for tourists.

Besides sitting on the boats to see rice fields, another preferred experience of many tourists is standing on several small peaks of mountain protruding at the cave’s entrance to catch the panoramic view of busy rice- harvesting season. Even numerous photographers climb up the mountains from 3 a.m to capture an aerial view of the Tam Coc golden season.

Tam Coc means “three caves”, including Ca cave, Hai cave and Ba cave, in which Ca is the largest one. It is 127 meters long and over 20 meters wide. Ba Cave, about 50 meters long, is the smallest, but regarded as the most beautiful one Tam Coc.
