| La Traviata, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera masterpiece with a history of more than 170 years, will be performed on July 30 and 31, 2026. |
First published in 1853 at Teatro La Fenice (Venice), La Traviata was composed by Giuseppe Verdi based on La Dame aux camélias (The Lady of the Camellias) by Alexandre Dumas (son). More than 170 years after its publication, La Traviata still retains its special place in world opera history and is regularly performed at prestigious venues.
Among the opera world often associated with mythology, history and the aristocracy, Verdi chose to tell a closer story about Violetta Valéry - a woman living amid the splendour of 19th-century Paris. Beyond the light of splendid parties is the journey of people’s love, destiny, and social prejudice. The psychological depth of characters and the dramatic musical language of Verdi have made La Traviata one of the world's most beloved operas across generations.
