According to a correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in China, on April 15, major Chinese television networks, news agencies, online platforms, and newspapers such as CCTV, Xinhua, People’s Daily Online, and China Daily all carried prominent and positive coverage of the meetings and talks between Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Chinese leaders.

Xinhua reported that during talks with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on the morning of April 15, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Comrade To Lam, Vietnam will steadfastly follow the socialist path. Regardless of changes in the international landscape, China will continue to regard Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and will promote high-quality comprehensive strategic cooperation in line with the overarching “six more” objectives.

China Daily noted that during the talks, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping emphasized that both sides should fully leverage the special role of Party-to-Party channels, enhance high-level exchanges, consolidate political trust, and effectively utilize the “3+3” strategic dialogue mechanism at the ministerial level of foreign affairs, defense, and public security.

According to People’s Daily Online, while jointly meeting with representatives of Chinese and Vietnamese youth participating in the “Red study and research journey,” General Secretary and President Xi Jinping stated that youth are a vital force driving social development and progress and are the successors to the cause of the two Parties and the two countries. He expressed hope that young people from both nations would support one another so that the profound friendship of being “both comrades and brothers” between China and Vietnam continues to shine with youthful vitality.

Regarding the meeting between Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and Premier of the State Council Li Qiang, CCTV and Xinhua quoted Premier Li Qiang as saying that China stands ready to work with Vietnam to deepen the alignment of development strategies, accelerate infrastructure connectivity such as standard-gauge railways, expressways, and smart border gates, and promote the expansion and qualitative improvement of two-way trade and investment. He also highlighted the potential to create new highlights of cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, new energy, and key minerals. China is also willing to work with Vietnam to effectively design a series of activities for the “China-Vietnam Tourism Cooperation Year.”

Chinese media reported that during his meeting with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji assessed that the talks between the two General Secretaries and Presidents were sincere, friendly, and fruitful, and had set the direction for the development of China-Vietnam relations.

Both sides should effectively implement the important common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, consolidate mutual strategic trust, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, and promote the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance in a deeper and more substantive manner.
