Reporting at the conference, Huynh Thi Thanh An, Vice President of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, stated that in 2025, departments, agencies, localities, associations, mass organizations, and educational institutions across the city proactively and flexibly integrated people-to-people diplomacy into their regular work programs. Da Nang welcomed hundreds of international delegations for visits and working sessions, exchanging information on socio-economic development, the investment environment, cooperation promotion, humanitarian aid, and charitable activities. At the same time, the city organized numerous outbound delegations to promote exchanges, cooperation, and resource mobilization.

A notable highlight of the year was the mobilization and reception of foreign non-governmental aid. The city received 101 aid packages with a total committed value of VND 393.26 billion (equivalent to USD 16.42 million), focusing on healthcare, education and training, science and technology, child protection, environmental protection, disaster recovery, and support for vulnerable groups. These resources made a tangible contribution to the implementation of the city’s social welfare policies and community development goals.

In its role as the specialized agency, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations and its member organizations received and worked with nearly 80 international delegations, while also leading and coordinating numerous exemplary activities promoting exchange, peace, solidarity, and friendship. These included medical examination and gift-giving programs in Laos; activities commemorating diplomatic relations with Russia, the United States, and Germany; cultural, artistic, and sports exchanges with many countries; and international seminars on responsible business practices and the green economy. External information work continued to be renewed, with more than 250 bilingual news articles published, contributing to the promotion of Da Nang’s image among international friends.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Thao affirmed that people-to-people diplomacy is one of the three key pillars of Vietnam’s comprehensive foreign policy. In the new context, strengthening people-to-people diplomacy not only enhances mutual understanding and trust among nations, but also contributes to building a peaceful and stable environment in support of sustainable development at both national and local levels.

People-to-people diplomatic activities not only complement State diplomacy and Party external relations, but also directly help project the image of Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular as a safe, friendly destination with strong potential for cooperation.

Nguyen Ngoc Binh called on the entire system to continue strongly renewing the content and methods of people-to-people diplomacy in a more practical and effective direction; to enhance the application of digital technology and multimedia communication; and to proactively implement the 2026 People-to-People Diplomacy Action Plan, which includes nearly 50 activities and events, many of which will commemorate diplomatic relations between Vietnam and countries around the world.
