In an interview with the press, Colonel Pho Trieu Cuong highlighted sustained cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam and Thailand, including high-level military exchanges, annual bilateral meetings, defense policy dialogues, and intelligence-sharing forums.

Cuong noted the promotion of defense education and training collaboration, joint training exercises, and peacekeeping efforts. In September, the Vietnam Coast Guard and Thailand's Maritime Enforcement Command Centre (Thai-MECC) signed a memorandum of understanding on maritime law enforcement cooperation, covering information sharing on smuggling, illegal immigration, and illicit activities, as well as search and rescue operations, marine environment protection, and joint patrols.

Senior Thai military leaders attended the VPA's anniversary and the 2024 Vietnam International Defence Expo, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Forces, air force commander, and representatives from the army, navy, and Thai-MECC.

Thai military historians and analysts acknowledged the VPA's strides in international integration and defense diplomacy, actively participating in regional defense cooperation and forums. They also praised Vietnam's involvement in UN peacekeeping missions and contributions to international cooperation in non-traditional security domains.

Cuong emphasized the strong partnership between the VPA and the Royal Thai Armed Forces within multilateral cooperation mechanisms, particularly those led by ASEAN.
