	Yen Bai Creates Forum for Students to Raise Voice on Children Issues

Funded by the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this initiative aims to support recovery and resilience-building for communities hardest hit by the disaster. Among the key activities, the project supports the construction of four public infrastructure projects in remote areas—bringing essential services closer to thousands of ethnic minority people. These investments will not only help communities recover but also strengthen their resilience to future disasters.

Typhoon Yagi, the most destructive storm to hit Vietnam in three decades, has affected 3.6 million people. With nearly 400,000 homes damaged or submerged, and infrastructure in ruins, the storm has left the country facing a recovery effort estimated at more than VND 81.5 trillion (USD 3.3 billion). The typhoon left unprecedented devastation in Yen Bai province, causing extensive loss of life, widespread damage to homes and destruction of critical infrastructure.

Last October, the RoK's Government committed USD 1 million to UNDP to support Vietnam's recovery efforts. In alignment with the Joint UN Response, UNDP’s programme aims to address immediate needs and foster long-term resilience in communities hardest hit by the disaster, particularly in Hai Phong city and Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Quang Ninh provinces.
