Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture (VN National University) marks 25th anniversary
(VNF) – The Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture, University of Language and International Study (ULIS) on November 11 celebrated its 25th anniversary of establishment.
Director of the Japan Foundation Center For Cultural Exchange Ando Toshiki, Former Ambassador of Vietnam to Japan, Vice President of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association Nguyen Phu Binh, Rector of ULIS Do Tuan Minh and representatives of JICA, Japanese enterprises, as well as many universities from Japan and Vietnam attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the opening address, Rector of ULIS Do Tuan Minh recalled the history of the Japanese Language and Culture Faculty, which dates back to the year 1992.
ULIS is proud to be one of the leading Japanese language training institution in Vietnam, which have been providing a large number of hi-quality manpower for Vietnam, contributing to the development of Japanese language in Vietnam, as well as the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan, Minh said.
On this occasion, on behalf of ULIS, Rector Minh expressed his gratitude to the two governments’ agencies, enterprises and universities for their significant supports for the Faculty in the last 25 years, and looked forward to further supports in the time to come.
According to Dr. Dao Thi Nga My, Head of the Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture, in the last 25 years, the faculty has grown into a premium Japanese language training institution of the nation. She also stressed the three key missions of the faculty, which are also the three missions of ULIS, which are: language training, scientific research and contribution to society.

The achievements ULIS Faculty of Japanese language and Culture has gained in training and research were also acknowledged in the speeches made by honored guests including Director of the Japan Foundation Center For Cultural Exchange Ando Toshiki, former Ambassador of Vietnam to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh, and leaders of various Japanese and Vietnamese universities.

Earlier, in celebration for the 25th anniversary, the ULIS and Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture held a Gala concert themed “25-year journey” and an international conference themed “Japanese language teaching and Japanese study in Vietnam – Possibilities for cooperation in manpower training.”
Besides, various exchange activities promoting Japanese culture were held and captured vast attention from visitors./.
