Festival Celebrates Vietnam - Japan Friendship
Taking place at the Culture, Information and Sports Center of Dong Da District (Hanoi), the Vietnam - Japan Festival 2023 includes many exciting activities such as the Photo exhibition "Vietnam - Japan through 4B lens" which displays 50 works on culture, country, and people of Vietnam and Japan, the third Vietnamese Haiku Poetry Seminar with the participation of 50 members from Haiku Poetry Club under the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association and clubs in provinces and cities across the country; a seminar on growing cherry blossom trees in Hanoi with the participation of experts of Hanoi Department of Construction, representatives of Japanese businesses and representatives of Hai Phong.

In the evening of the same day, a Vietnam - Japan Exchange Gala was held, where songs expressing the love for Vietnam and Japan, and special art and martial arts performances were introduced to audiences. Notably, the Japanese Choir Hanoi Freude, which includes 14 Vietnamese and Japanese artists living, working, and studying in Hanoi, gave an impressive performance.
Speaking at the festival, Dao Viet Long, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Transport, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Hanoi, said that the festival aims to create opportunities to exchange and introduce the unique features and quintessence of traditional culture and art of the two countries that have been distilled over many generations.
Many artists and teachers from units of the Vietnam - Japan friendship in Hanoi and the Japanese community in Hanoi join the performances. These activities are an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and deepen the friendship and good relations between the two countries, contributing to the realization of people-to-people diplomacy between the two capitals as well as between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.

According to Kamitani Naoko, Director of the Cultural Information Center, Embassy of Japan to Vietnam, the relationship between the two countries is "at the best stage ever," which is based on the "understanding and empathy between people". That understanding and empathy are born not only from cooperation in political and economic aspects but also from the long-standing historical and cultural relationship between the two countries, which is continued and cultivated through regular exchanges from leaders to people of the two countries over many generations.
