	Nearly 500 Da Nang Fishing Vessels Sign Pledge Against IUU Fishing

According to initial information, the fishing vessel (registration number not yet identified) had an engine capacity of 200 CV, was approximately 12 meters in length, and operated as a diving vessel. There were 15 workers on board, with Tran Thai (born in 1972, residing in Tien Thanh Commune, Lam Dong Province) serving as both owner and captain. The vessel departed La Gi Port at 5:20 a.m. on February 3. Upon reaching the port entrance area, it encountered large waves and was capsized. At the time of the incident, the crew members were able to jump off the vessel in time and were safely rescued by nearby operating vessels.

Immediately after the incident, the Phuoc Loc Border Guard Station (under the Command of the Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard) urgently mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with relevant functional forces and available vessels to conduct rescue operations and provide assistance to the distressed crew members.

According to local fishermen, the La Gi port estuary area is currently suffering from severe sand accumulation, causing significant difficulties and posing potential dangers for fishing vessels entering and leaving the port, especially under conditions of strong waves and winds. Previously, in the early hours of February 1, another fishing vessel sinking occurred in the same area, resulting in one fatality.

Fishermen have expressed their hope that competent authorities will soon implement measures to address the sand accumulation at the La Gi estuary to ensure the safety of fishing and seafood harvesting activities and to prevent further unfortunate accidents.
