Vietnamese novel to be introduced at Book Fair Frankfurt
	Photo book on Vietnam’s capital to join Frankfurt fair

The Book Fair took place from October 15 to 19 at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition Center, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This year, the Hanoi delegation, led by Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, brought to the Fair a variety of publications highlighting the history and culture of Hanoi and Vietnam. These publications aimed to promote the image of Vietnam, its land and people, especially the thousand-year-old capital city of Hanoi, known for its heroism, dynamism, creativity, and commitment to peace and development.

On the morning of October 15, the Hanoi delegation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Publishers Association, and Ho Chi Minh City, held the Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam Book Space at the Frankfurt International Book Fair 2025.

Attending the ceremony were Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Pham Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Publishers Association; Luu Xuan Dong, Consul General of Vietnam in Frankfurt; and Claudia Kaiser, Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The event also welcomed Shake Faisal, President of the ASEAN Publishers Association and Chairman of the Malaysian Publishers Association; Andrea Pasion Flores, President of the Philippine Book Development Association – the Guest of Honor Country at this year’s Fair; along with representatives from publishers’ associations of the Philippines, Japan, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Phan Tam emphasized that the Frankfurt International Book Fair is a symbol of creativity, dialogue, and cultural cooperation—where cultures meet, listen, and enrich one another. He affirmed that the event is an opportunity to “bring Vietnamese books closer to global readers.”

With the participation of more than 20 publishing units, Vietnam introduced over 1,200 titles, aiming to strengthen international cooperation in publishing, translation, and copyright exchange, while expanding investment in digital publishing, e-books, audiobooks, and international copyright platforms. Through these efforts, Vietnam hopes to bring its stories to readers around the world more quickly and conveniently, reaffirming its position as a creative, dynamic, and reliable partner in the global publishing community.

Also on October 15, the Hanoi delegation, together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Publishers Association, and Ho Chi Minh City, held a working session with Claudia Kaiser, Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The two sides discussed possibilities for enhancing cooperation in future book fairs, particularly in the fields of copyright and translation, in order to further develop the publishing industry of Hanoi and Vietnam.

On the morning of October 16, the Hanoi delegation visited and worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt. On behalf of the delegation, Nguyen Thi Mai Huong expressed gratitude for the Consulate’s support for Hanoi’s delegations over the years in attending the Frankfurt International Book Fair. On this occasion, the delegation presented books to the Consulate to help introduce to the Vietnamese community in Germany information about the political, economic, cultural, and social life of the capital and the country.

In 2025, Hanoi continued to participate in the Frankfurt International Book Fair with an exhibition space of 48m², located in the Asian nations’ area. The display featured more than 100 outstanding publications on the history and culture of Hanoi, along with many distinctive tourism products. The Hanoi–Vietnam Book Space attracted a large number of international visitors and served as a venue for cultural exchange, experience sharing in publishing, copyright cooperation, and exploration of Vietnamese culture and tourism.

Throughout the duration of the Book Fair, the Hanoi–Vietnam Book Space welcomed numerous international delegations and readers for visits and exchanges. The event contributed to affirming Vietnam’s and Hanoi’s ongoing efforts to integrate Vietnamese reading culture more deeply into the global community while promoting the image of a creative and friendly capital city in the eyes of international friends.
