According to Vietnam National Institute of Ophthalmology, 5-7% child in Mekong Delta is blind, 15% child have strabismus, crossed eyes and other refractive errors. Without corrective lenses, what these kids see is always blurred or distorted. This lack of clear vision affects their ability to perform academically and has a negative effect on their self-esteem.
However, the optical services for children in Mekong Delta was not sufficient to treat their refractive errors. Therefore, the examination which was carried out by HKI’s ChildSight program help many children and elderly patients get the high quality eye care.
