HKI Vietnam reviews ChildSight project in Nam Dinh province
(VNF) – Helen Keller International (HKI) Vietnam, in coordination with Xuan Truong Healthcare Center (Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province), recently held a conference to review the results of the ChildSight project conducted in the locality in the last 5 months.

The conference, held on April 27, was attended by the HKI, Nam Dinh provincial Eye Hospital, leaders and health staff of 21 schools in the district.
After being conducted for 5 months, ChildSight has provided vision scanning training for 42 health staff and teachers. Over 10,000 students and teachers from 21 schools were subsidized to receive vision screening, consultation and spectacles.
The project also built capacity for health staff in refractive errors, spectacle assembly technician and ophthalmological equipments for the district healthcare center.
In the conference, delegates also listened to useful sharing from Vice Director of Nam Dinh hospital and representatives of 21 beneficiary schools, as well attended a workshop on formative research to improve the continuum of HKI ChildSight project in Vietnam.
ChildSight, sponsored by USAID and TOMS company, aims at building the sustainable system for vision screening at schools and providing subsidised/free eye glasses; improving the capacity of teachers and school health workers in vision screening and raising awareness of the importance of healthy vision./.
