Hoi An ancient town is one of the most seriously bombarded areas by the storm Molave in the central region. The photo series shared by Facebook user Nguyen Hong Hanh shows a ravaged Hoi An after the storm passes, Zing News reported.

The bougainvillea tree on Hoang Van Thu Street, a famous check-in spot of many tourists is also left desolate due to the fierce wind.

Uprooted trees occupy the roads, blocking transportation. The locals along with sanitation workers rush up to clear away the streets.

Molave said to be the most powerful storm to hit Vietnam in the last two decades, uprooted many trees and damaged hundreds of houses and other structures. Some 56,000 homes had their roofs blown away.

The storm made landfall on Wednesday morning and weakened into a tropical depression by 4 p.m., according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Rainfall of up to 300 mm has been recorded in Quang Nam beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
