HUFO Hosts Screening of "Red Rain" to Mark Vietnam’s 80th National Day

According to Vice President and Secretary-General of HUFO Ho Xuan Lam, the screening of "Red Rain" for the Consular Corps and Lao and Cambodian students in Ho Chi Minh City aimed to provide international friends with a deeper understanding of Vietnam, its people, the indomitable will, bravery, and desire for peace of the Vietnamese during their struggle for national independence and reunification.

| On the evening of September 9, in celebration of the 80th National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) organized a screening of the film Red Rain for the Consular Corps in the city as well as Lao and Cambodian students currently studying in Ho Chi Minh City. |
Through this cultural and cinematic exchange, HUFO hopes to contribute to strengthening solidarity and friendship between the people of Ho Chi Minh City and the international community living, working, and studying in the city.
"Red Rain" is a cinematic work on the theme of revolutionary war, inspired by and fictionalizing the heroic and resilient 81-day-and-night battle of the army and people in defending the Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
The film honors, pays tribute to, and commemorates the Vietnamese who devoted their youth to the nation, for national independence and reunification, while reflecting the people’s aspiration for peace and national reconciliation. After the screening, the audience engaged in an exchange with the production team of "Red Rain".
Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City Adiguna Wijaya expressed his gratitude to the director, actors, and film crew for creating an impressive cinematic work about a historical period of Vietnam.
Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City Ariadne Feo Labrada noted that the film truly evoked emotions about revolutionary heroism and about a harsh period marked by great sacrifice and heroism of the Vietnamese army and people. She emphasized that the film helps viewers, especially younger generations, better understand the value of history and peace.
Representatives of the Consulates General of countries in Ho Chi Minh City such as Russia, China, Belarus, and India also extended their warm congratulations to the Red Rain production team, praising the film’s artistic value as well as the humanistic messages it conveyed to audiences.
Although "Red Rain" is a war-themed film, it is distinguished by its focus on love, the longing for peace, reconciliation, and national harmony, carrying a message to today’s generation about the enduring value of peace and the necessity of cooperation between people and between nations for peace and the prosperous development of the world.
