Each VSDP scholarship is valued at 1,000 USD over four years of university study, of which 400 USD is awarded in the first year and 200 USD in the second year (provided that students meet the scholarship maintenance criteria as stipulated).
In addition to financial support, students will participate in two key activities designed to foster skill development and career growth, with a total value equivalent to 400 USD. These include: Summer Summit (Skill Development Camp): A seven-day summer program held at the end of the first academic year, helping students strengthen essential soft skills and gain confidence in pursuing opportunities throughout their university journey. The Summer Summit also fosters meaningful connections between students and volunteers across generations; Career Development Program: Conducted throughout the four years of university, this program pairs students with human resources professionals to build practical career skills such as CV writing, interview techniques, career mindset development, and one-on-one mentoring, thereby expanding future career opportunities.

The project will be carried out over five years (from 2025 to 2029) with total funding of approximately 62,500 USD (equivalent to 1,576,000,000 VND), sponsored by VietHope. It is expected that many students will receive scholarships and long-term mentorship throughout their academic journey, contributing to improving human resource quality and promoting sustainable local development.
According to Le Phu Dong, Program Director of VietHope, the goal of the program is to empower education for students from low-income families through financial assistance while fostering their comprehensive growth in knowledge, critical thinking, and soft skills. The program also focuses on developing digital skills to meet the rapidly changing demands of the labor market. This helps students become more confident in pursuing their career aspirations and achieving a brighter future. The program also aims at breaking the cycle of poverty and contributing to Vietnam’s shared prosperity.

Le Thi Thanh Giang, Chairwoman of the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations, stated: “We greatly appreciate VietHope’s partnership. The VSDP program is not merely a scholarship but a long-term, sustainable investment that helps realize the learning and development aspirations of the young generation in Can Tho City.”
Both parties also committed to continuing their collaboration by exploring and implementing new initiatives in the future to support disadvantaged children, pupils, and students in the area, striving toward equal access to education and maximizing the potential of Vietnam’s young generation.
VietHope is a non-profit organization established in 2002 at Harvard University (US) by Vietnamese-origin students to provide scholarships and skill development programs for underprivileged Vietnamese students. The organization aims to empower them through education to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society. |
