India Grants 78 Long-Term Scholarships to Vietnamese Students and Scholars

These scholarships are offered through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and fall under various programs, including the General Scholarship Scheme (Atal Bihari Vajpayee GSS), Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Scholarship (MGC), Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Cultural Exchange Scholarship, and the Lata Mangeshkar Scholarship for Dance & Music provided by the Indian government.

Beneficiaries of the scholarships include officials from government agencies, lecturers from educational institutions, Buddhist scholars, and students across Vietnam.
Of the 78 scholarships, 38 are for Ph.D. programs, 24 for Master’s degrees, and 16 for undergraduate studies. Selected candidates will study at prestigious universities such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, University of Delhi, Nalanda University, Banaras Hindu University, University of Mumbai, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Andhra University, Gujarat University, University of Kerala, University of Lucknow, and Dibrugarh University.
Fields of study include Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Commerce, International Relations, Public Policy Management, Water Resources, as well as specialized disciplines such as Buddhist Studies, Philosophy, Psychology, Archaeology, Ancient Indian History, Performing Arts, Indian Art and Culture, and the Pali language.
The scholarships cover all academic expenses, including tuition fees, round-trip airfare, visas, living allowances, and accommodations at the host institutions.
This scholarship program reflects the Indian Government’s long-term commitment to supporting the development of high-quality human resources in Vietnam, while also deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
It is estimated that at least 1,000 Vietnamese alumni who previously received Indian government scholarships are currently holding important positions in government, businesses, universities, organizations, or entrepreneurial ventures across the country.
In addition to long-term programs, India annually offers around 130 short-term training scholarships to Vietnamese citizens through courses under the ITEC program. Over 5,000 Vietnamese have participated in these training programs over the past decades.
