Italy, Vietnam Cooperates in Intercountry Adoption Support Services
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Justice of Vietnam Tran Tien Dung highly appreciated the good achievements made by Vietnam and Italy on the basis of the Vietnam - Italy Cooperation Agreement on Adoption in 2003 and the Hague Convention No. 33, thereby contributing to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Dung said that the Party and State of Vietnam have issued many guidelines and legal policies on the care, education, and protection of children, especially the disadvantaged groups, to provide children equal access to resources and social services.
The Ministry of Justice of Vietnam, assigned by the Government as Vietnam's Central Agency for Child Adoption, has well performed assigned functions and tasks as well as effectively coordinated with central ministry agencies and localities in the process of child adoption, including care and protection, preventing human trafficking...
The host hoped that the cooperation between Vietnam and Italy in this field would continue to be strengthened through many activities in different forms. It will help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of adoption work, the care, education and protection of children in Vietnam and contribute to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Vincenzo Starita affirmed that CAI is ready to effectively coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice in the process of resolving adoptions between the two countries, for the best interests of the children in difficult circumstances. In particular, the cooperation will be by the laws of the two countries as well as the principles and standards stipulated in the Hague Convention No. 33 to which both countries are members.
Also, CAI will strengthen cooperation, support, and exchange of experience and information sharing with the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam. The focus will be issues related to strengthening the capacity of agencies, organizations, and individuals involved in adoption resolution work, as well as researching, building, and deploying intercountry adoption support models/services.
