The competition was jointly chaired by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan, Viet Nam’s Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Home Affairs. It was organized in coordination with the Viet Nam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) and HONTO TV, with professional support from Japanese agencies and organizations, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the Immigration Services Agency of Japan and the Tokyo Administrative Scrivener Association.

Held online nationwide from June 17 to September 15, 2026, the competition attracted 27,900 participants. The test comprised 25 multiple-choice questions and three written questions, assessing both legal knowledge and the ability to apply Japanese law to everyday situations.

According to the organizers, technical interns accounted for 67.1% of participants, specified skilled workers for 18.6%, and those holding residence statuses for engineers, specialists in humanities and international services for 9%. These figures indicate that the competition reached a broad segment of Vietnamese workers living and working in Japan, a group with practical needs for information about local laws and regulations. The results were announced on September 26, 2026.

Do Quang Ba said the competition’s greatest achievement lay in the legal knowledge participants had gained, their heightened awareness of the importance of compliance, and positive changes in the perceptions and behavior of Vietnamese people living in Japan.

The organizers expressed confidence that Vietnamese nationals who understand and strictly comply with Japanese law would not only better protect themselves but also help build a civilized, responsible and trustworthy Vietnamese community, contributing positively to the sustainable development of Viet Nam-Japan friendship.

A total of 30 individual prizes were presented, including one Special Prize, one First Prize, two Second Prizes, five Third Prizes and 21 Consolation Prizes. Three collective prizes were also awarded to recognize organizations’ contributions to encouraging participation. The total prize money amounted to 640,000 Japanese yen.
