Japanese Emperor to visit Vietnam in late February
(VNF) - Japan’s Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko will pay a State visit to Vietnam for the first time, from February 28th-March 5th.

The trip will be made at the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse.
The itinerary of the visit will be finalized based upon consultations with the Governments of both countries. Their Majesties are scheduled to leave Tokyo on February 28th for approximately one week overall.
Additionally, following the demise of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of the Kingdom of Thailand on October 13th, 2016, Their Majesties will travel to Thailand on their way back from Vietnam in order to pay a condolence call.
Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic ties in 1973./.
