Khmer people’s culture highlighted in Ho Chi Mình city

The Cambodian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City organised a proramme featuring the culture of Khmer people on March 7.
During the Culture Day (Marc 3), held annually since 1999, Khmer people remember their ancestors who passed down the diverse culture for the present generation.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Cambodian Consul General Sok Dareth said the programme offers an opportunity for Cambodian students in HCM City to meet and engage in exchanges.
Currently, about 200 Cambodian students are studying in the Vietnamese southern metropolis.

On this occasion, the participating students had a chance to cook traditional cuisines of Khmer people and participate in other activities in anticipation of Cambodia’s traditional New Year in April.
The Consulate General also honoured Mai Nhu Trinh, a Vietnamese businessman, for his contributions to Cambodia in socio-economic development and religion.
Seng Sambath, 22, who is President of the Cambodian students’ association in HCM City, said he has studied in Vietnam for three years and got acquainted with local customs.
Most of Cambodian students in HCM City can speak Vietnamese and find it easier to integrate into the host society, he said./.
