Coast Guard Region 4 Command distributes information flyers, leaflets and presents the national flag to to prevent local fishermen from engaging in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing (Photo:VNT).

By organizing propaganda and law dissemination activities on combating IUU fishing, the Command Minister of Coast Guard Region 4 in collaboration with the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee informed the fishermen of Nam Du commune about the 2017 Vietnam Fisheries Law, the 2018 Vietnam Coast Guard Law 2018 and legal documents on prevention illegal acts.

On this occasion, vehicle owners and boat captains at Nam Du commune's fishing port signed a commitment not to violate IUU fishing regulations. The organizing committee also gave gifts to fishermen's families in difficult circumstances. The local fishermen were presented with the national flags.

Notably, this practical activity for combating IUU fishing between the Coast Guard Region 4 and the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee in Kien Hai district will take place within 3 days (from March 13 to 15, 2023) at Nam Du, An Son, Lai Son, Hon Tre communes.

At each propaganda site, the Coast Guard Region 4 BTL will give 10 gifts, each worth VND 1 million to support a total of 40 fishing families with difficult circumstances.
