Sharing with members of the VADHC in Romania, Nguyen Hong Lien expressed her hope that the image of the Vietnamese ao dai would continue to be widely promoted among the Vietnamese community in Romania as well as to international friends. She noted that since the establishment of the VADHC, the aspiration to honor the beauty of the Vietnamese women’s ao dai has spread across provinces and cities nationwide and to countries around the world. To date, the VADHC has been established in many European countries, including France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, Sweden, Slovakia, and others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Romania Do Duc Thanh expressed his delight at the establishment of the VADHC in Romania and described it as a highly meaningful event within the series of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Romania.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that the VADHC in Romania would carry out more practical and creative activities, making positive contributions to promoting Vietnamese culture in general, preserving Vietnamese cultural identity, strengthening cohesion within the local Vietnamese community, and further introducing the image of the ao dai to the host country’s people. These efforts, he noted, would help promote cultural exchange and strengthen solidarity between the peoples of the two countries. Ambassador Do Duc Thanh also affirmed that the Embassy of Vietnam in Romania would accompany and support Vietnamese community associations in the area in general, and the VADHC in Romania in particular, in carrying out activities to preserve and promote the values of the ao dai heritage.

In a letter sent to the VADHC in Romania, Dr. Phan Bich Thien, President of the VADHC in Europe, conveyed her congratulations to the Executive Board of the VADHC in Romania in particular and to all members of the VADHC in Romania in general. The President of the VADHC in Europe stated that this event marks an important milestone in the promotion and honoring of the values of Vietnamese ao dai attire and culture to international friends. She also expressed her confidence that the establishment of the VADHC in Romania, as well as in other European countries, will contribute to honoring and promoting the value of the Vietnamese ao dai toward the goal of having UNESCO recognize the Vietnamese áo dài as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The launch ceremony of the VADHC in Romania presented the audience with many outstanding performances, including ao dai and traditional Vietnamese costume fashion shows, conical hat dances, fan dances, and calligraphy dances combined with ao dai costumes. These performances were presented by approximately 50 members from multiple generations of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Romania.

At the event, in response to the appeal of the Embassy of Vietnam in Romania, Vietnamese community associations in Romania and Vietnamese expatriates living, working, and studying in Romania also raised nearly USD 3,500 to send to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support people in the Central and Central Highlands regions affected by recent storms and floods.
