The marriage customs of the Giay ethnic minority group in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai is not only attractive for their ethnic people but also people from other ethnic minority groups in northern Vietnam.
The marriage custom was introduced at the Tourism and Culture Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Groups in Son Tay town, Hanoi.
Giay ethnic minority people attach much importance to marriage, maintain the continuity of a family line and do not care much about wealth and poverty. They mainly pay attention to morality and family respectability.
A betrothal ceremony of Giay ethnic minority group often asks three wedding challenges, including wine and meat to invite guests to the wedding, presents for the girl, and rice for girl’s parents.
