Mexico’s lower house sets up friendship parliamentary group with Vietnam

Alfredo Femat Bañuelos, Chair of the Chamber of Deputies’ Foreign Affairs Committee, said the group is responsible for promoting and creating a space for dialogue, contributing to strengthening the multi-faceted relations between the two countries.
He added that Mexico and Vietnam share many historical, cultural and economic similarities and development goals.
The two sides can learn from each other and exchange experience in socio-economic development and education, said Alfredo Femat Bañuelos, who is also Chairman of the group.
He highlighted that the bilateral friendship and cooperation have thrived in all fields, especially economy and trade.
Vietnam is currently the eighth biggest trade partner of Mexico in Asia-Pacific. Two-way trade increased by over 20 percent in the past 10 years to reach nearly 5 billion USD in 2018.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong affirmed that the establishment of the group demonstrates the sound relations between the two countries in all fields and cooperation channels.
He thanked Mexican people for supporting Vietnamese people in the cause of national independence and building.
He highlighted the sound relations between the two countries’ parliaments, governments and peoples.
The diplomat pledged to strengthen coordination with the group to promote the bilateral rapports in the coming time.
Pham Tat Thang, deputy chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children, voiced his hope that the group will help promote the bilateral cooperation./.
