German local media reported that the Airbus A350-900 landed at Rostock-Laage airport at 10:35 am on April 23. Minister of the Interior and Europe of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lorenz Caffier, came to the airport to receive the masks.
They are packed in containers and 2,000 boxes, weighing about 40 tons. All are then transported to a warehouse before delivering to the necessary places, including schools and public transportation systems. In addition, these masks will also be distributed to the tax authorities, courts and police forces.
Speaking to reporters, Caffier said that the Interior Ministry had "used tax money responsibly when ordering 1.5 million masks from Vietnam".

Facing the shortage of medical masks due to the Covid-19 pandemic, even hospitals and nursing homes in Germany are not receiving enough supplies. Therefore, the number of the aforementioned masks may merely partially alleviate scarcity. The German Ministry of the Interior has planned to order more masks to meet the needs of the country in the COVID-19 fight.
