A highlight of these efforts was a 2026 visit by a Ho Chi Minh City delegation to officers, soldiers and residents in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago and at the DK1 offshore platforms.

During the visit, the delegation presented a football field, four covered vegetable gardens and 19 solar-powered lighting systems, along with machinery, equipment, educational and daily necessities, and other essential supplies, with a total value of more than VND 9 billion.

The support not only addressed essential needs but also helped improve living conditions and boost the morale of troops and civilians stationed on the islands and offshore platforms.

To date, Ho Chi Minh City’s “For the Homeland’s Seas and Islands - For the Fatherland’s Frontline” Fund has provided more than VND 20 billion in support, primarily for facilities and equipment serving the training and daily living needs of officers and soldiers.

The city has allocated nearly VND 1.6 billion to Brigade 189 for training and physical conditioning, and VND 500 million to build covered vegetable gardens for units under Naval Region 3 Command. Additional funding has supported the drilling of wells, housing repairs, and the installation of water filtration systems and solar-powered lighting at border guard units.

Support for military personnel and their families has also been a key focus. During the recent military recruitment drive, the Fatherland Front system at all levels worked with Military Service Councils to visit, encourage and provide gifts to new recruits and families facing hardship, with total spending of nearly VND 38 billion.

Of this amount, nearly VND 5.2 billion was spent on delegations visiting and presenting gifts to new recruits.

Beyond supporting the armed forces, member organisations of the city’s Fatherland Front are also stepping up assistance for fishermen and households facing hardship.

The Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association distributed 900 gift packages and more than 5,000 water filtration units, while providing support to 50 disadvantaged fishermen, with total assistance exceeding VND 7.2 billion.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union launched the “Accompanying Fishermen - Steadfast on Election Day” programme, providing social welfare packages worth VND 2 million each to 29 fishing families and encouraging fishermen to fulfil their civic rights and responsibilities.
