According to the plan, the “Moonlight of the Sea” program will take place from October 2–5 at the Navy Region 3 Command in Da Nang, featuring a wide range of meaningful activities.

The organizers will award 100 scholarships to children of officers and soldiers facing difficult circumstances who excel in their studies; deliver 2,000 Mid-Autumn gift sets - including mooncakes, milk, jelly, lanterns, paper masks, and school supplies - to the children of Navy Region 3 officers and soldiers serving to safeguard the seas and islands in central Vietnam and the Hoang Sa area; and present 300 gift sets to children of officers and soldiers of Navy Engineering Brigade 83 who are stationed on islands in the Truong Sa archipelago.

A Mid-Autumn art performance themed “Moonlight of the Sea” will also be held, creating a night filled with light and love for children. Notably, the program will include meaningful acts of gratitude: presenting gifts to mothers of the Gac Ma martyrs in Da Nang; offering incense at the Monument of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and the family of Hero Nguyen Phan Vinh; and visiting wounded soldiers who were injured in the line of duty.

These activities reflect deep humanity, upholding the tradition of “remembering the source of the water we drink,” and reaffirming the unwavering support of the home front for the silent sacrifices made at the nation’s maritime frontiers.

A highlight of this year’s program is a friendly sports exchange between the organizers and Navy Region 3 Command, strengthening bonds and fostering a warm, close-knit atmosphere. In addition, the delegation will visit and present gifts to several subordinate units, including Brigade 172, Regiment 351, and Engineering Brigade 83.

The funding for the program and gifts comes entirely from social contributions, reflecting a strong spirit of community responsibility. Donations will be received at the office of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Association (94 Alley 189 Hoang Hoa Tham, Ngoc Ha, Hanoi) and at Navy Region 3 Command (Da Nang).

Speaking about the program, Tran Vu Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Association, emphasized: “The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunion and sharing love. For children whose parents are on duty safeguarding the nation’s seas and islands, that joy is often incomplete. That is why “Moonlight of the Sea” represents companionship - the warm embrace of the home front. We are deeply grateful to Dantri Newspaper for initiating such a meaningful program that spreads widely and draws strong public support.”

The Chairman of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Association stressed that schools have joined hands in making masks and lanterns to send to the children. In addition, paper cranes and floating lanterns were prepared as tokens of gratitude to fallen heroes. The Association also organized exhibitions, published materials, and allocated funds to host the program for the children.

Notably, the event has received heartfelt support from various organizations and businesses, including the Hanoi Railway Transport Company, which for many years has provided free transportation of gifts to the program’s destinations.

The organizers expressed their hope that through the program, the love and care from the mainland will continue to spread, bringing warmth to every child and soldier stationed on the frontlines of the sea and islands. They emphasized that every Mid-Autumn Festival, no matter where people are, remains a shared sky of affection and faith in a strong, peaceful Vietnam.

Although the Mid-Autumn Festival has yet to arrive, the atmosphere at the Vietnam Seas and Islands Association was already filled with warmth and excitement. Every member eagerly lent a hand to prepare meaningful gifts for the children of Navy officers and soldiers.

“Moonlight of the Sea” is not only a Mid-Autumn gift for the children of naval servicemen, but also a bridge of love, gratitude, and responsibility. The program carries a message that the moonlight of reunion will forever illuminate the bond between the military and the people, uniting the home front and the frontlines in one heartbeat - for the nation’s seas and islands, and for lasting peace in the future.
